Animal Crossing Tag

I was asked to do this by Katie Melting Pages on twitter and it really excited me as this is the  first time that someone has asked me to complete a tag.  I have never played animal crossing which luckily doesn’t affect me being able to do this tag so here goes.

Past Villager – Who is a character you found when you were younger that still has a place in your heart?

This one made me really rack my brain to remember all the characters I loved as a child and characters that I still love and one of the few that I could think of was Tigger from Winne-the-Pooh.  Tigger’s exuberant love of life and inability to sit still resonates with me.  I also love how confident he is, though I am aware that he has a large ego.

Blather’s Blatherings – Recommend a historical fiction book that you think everybody should read
Stormbird by Conn Iggulden book cover

I don’t read historical fiction so I spoke to my other half who loves to read historical fiction and recommended Stormbird by Conn Iggulden.  He may have recommended this as we complete War of the Roses re-enactment but I will aim to read and review this in the future.

Celeste’s Wish – What is a future book release you wish you could read now?

Right now I am really looking forward to getting back into reading the Jack Reacher Series by Lee Child Senital comes out on 27th October 2020, this will be the 24 or 25 book in the series, and while I am a few books behind this is one of the few series that I have managed to read despite the fact that the series has not been completed yet.  I hope I will be able to catch up in this series soon.

Timmy & Tommy – What is your favorite sibling relationship in a book?

I think one of my favorite sibling relationship is Percy and Tyson in the Percy Jackson series.  You can tell that when Percy finds out that Tyson is his sibling Percy is not comfortable with the thought.  But throughout the series it becomes clear that the pair respect each other and care about each other regardless of the opinion of others that they know.

The Easter Bunny – A popular book character that you’re not a fan of

This may split opinion but I am not a massive fan of Harry Potter.  I understand that the things that happen to him are often out of his control, but his instant response is always to stand and fight, rather than taking a moment to think logically and take additional back up, or wait for a response from a teacher.  Maybe it opposes my Slytherin tendencies but I feel that some of the books could have a better outcome if Harry paused and thought.

Nook’s Loans – An author you’d give all your money to

Derek Landy,  while there are other authors who I love as much as this author, they are all really well known and well loved.  I feel that the money would be better off with a more underrated author. The first book in the Skulduggery Pleasant Series only has nearly 54,000 ratings on Goodreads which I think is shocking.

The Sisters Able – What is your favorite fictional family (found or otherwise)?

I have tried to not include anything from the Harry Potter series so far, but who doesn’t want to live with the Weasley’s? Yes they may not have a lot of money, but the amount of love in that family is amazing.  From the books it feels like they would accept anyone, and love them as their own which is something that every family may want to work towards.

It’s a C+ – What is a book trope you don’t like that keeps popping up?

Happy endings… I do like a happy ending, but sometimes it is needed to have a reality check. Having a massive battle at the end of the book but none of the main characters being injured, or miamed or changed in anyway.  This is not something that would ever happen in real life.  I understand that books are not rea life and a lot of people escape from the challenges in the world into fantasy books.

But sometimes you need to see a change in the characters to have made the journey worth it.

The Wandering Camel – What is your favorite book set in a land far away from yours?

Lord of the Rings – the worldbuilding is phenomenal and I fell in love with Rohan. I love all the different cultures and landscapes in the series.

What Would Dodos Do? – A fictional land you wish you could fly away to at any moment?

This was a difficult question as a lot of the books that I read have tumultuous situations.  Out of all of them I would love to visit Narnia. Post the war with the siblings it would be a beautiful place to live, and a place where you would learn a lot about living in harmony with your environment.

A few of these questions really made me think, and answers which really made me think about what I appreciate most about my favourite series and books.

  1. Percy and Tyson are such good siblings! I loved how they were introduced and how their family relationship developed!

I agree that Middle-Earth and Rohan are amazing places too 🥰

    • I personally feel that Tyson & Percy’s relationship is overlooked by a lot of readers, especially as they are initially friends before it is pointed out that they are related. It is nice that they have a connection prior to them finding out that they are siblings.

I think that Rohan is one of my favourite fictional places and I feel it is a shame that is it not more prominent in the story!
